The pain clinic is here to stay

A new clinic now operates permanently in New Children’s Hospital, which specializes in pain management and research for children and young people. The pediatric pain center, which started as a project in 2020, quickly adapted to the other operations of the New Children’s Hospital, achieved set goals for the operation and received praise from both patients and staff. The clinic thus became part of HUS’ normal operations in June and the multiprofessional team grew to 12 employees.

“Together and in a very unique way, we have achieved something long-awaited new and permanently beneficial for pediatric patients in Finland. It wasn’t easy, but it was very satisfying,” describes the Pain Centre’s multi-professional team of the development work.

The project, which started in 2020 at the initiative of the support foundation, has also been financed by Stiftelsen Brita Maria Renlunds minne, the OLVI foundation, Lastenklinikan kummit and the gaming companies Seriously and Small Giant with a total of 2.7 million euros. Many thanks on behalf of the foundation and the Pain Center team to the initiators, authors and supporters of the project!
